NIGERIA AND GREED: HOBBES' AND MARX'S THEORIES IN ACTION

I am yet to see a nation with as many greedy elements as Nigeria. Thomas Hobbes while painting a picture of the State of Nature noted that greed was central in all that men did. Man's stay in the State of Nature, he further revealed, was egoistic and self-seeking. "The motive of gain and the wish to satisfy appetite and desires was the motive behind all human action". Nigeria is a quintessence, a carbon copy, a perfect example of Hobbes' State of Nature.

Greed has made men, Nigerian leaders precisely, wild. They can (and do) devour because of material gains. I come to ask myself, why would a sensible person choose to make over 200 million people cry just to make himself laugh, to make himself happy? WHY?!

Nigerian leaders are used to embezzlement, they cherish LOOTOCRACY! That notwithstanding, I feel uncomfortable and completely shameful of the nation and of my identity as a Nigerian on hearing and seeing the crime of greed committed by the so-called Nigerian leaders with even COVID-19 palliatives, things voluntarily provided by humanitarian liberalists for the purpose of saving the common man from hunger and starvation during the lockdown. The leaders deliberately chose to starve Nigerians! They chose death for the people they were expected to look after. They chose to eat and watch Nigerians die! This is the extremity of greed, the height of narcissism and avarice! THIS IS CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

Unfortunately for the so-called leaders in apparel of greed, the masses have forcefully taken what belonged to them. They massively and joyfully claimed what was theirs, starting from carting away the enormous palliatives in a warehouse at Mazamaza, Lagos State. This, I believe, should serve as a lesson to every leader under the canopy of greed and wickedness in Nigeria. It should prove to them that Karl Marx the Great was never wrong when he told the world through his writings that a day is coming when the greedy bourgeoisie, the capitalists will be overthrown by the marginalized proletariat.
